What is your current role at Hand in Hand?

HR and Administrative Assistant

Can you tell us a little about your background and journey to your current role?

I was employed at the Handicapped Development Center (now known as Empowering Abilities) for 14 years in a similar role of Administrative Assistant.  Being employed with Empowering Abilities gave me the opportunity to spend time with individuals with disabilities.  Expanding my knowledge and building relationships was my biggest triumph.  I still see and talk to my Empowering Abilities family! My most recent experience has been working in the non-profit housing and homelessness sector in the Quad Cities.  I have a drive to help people daily and to find the best outcome possible.

What do you enjoy most about your work here?

My teammates and the kiddos!  There is always a new adventure! And of course Chuck!

Could you share a memorable experience or accomplishment from your time with us?

My first week at Hand in Hand, I had the opportunity to visit PWP.  Going and doing volunteer work with each other was a very positive experience.

How do you approach challenges in your role?

I see challenges as a way to learn and grow.  With the great team that I have to work with, we collaboratively work to overcome any challenges that arise.

Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests?

Spending time with my dogs and family.  Enjoying time with my new granddaughter!  Binge watching Netflix is a pretty important too!

Who or what motivates you to do your best every day?

My husband and my kids.  I strive to be a positive and encouraging role model for my family and others in my life.  Being a wife, mother, Gigi(grandma) and daughter are the roles in my life that I cherish most.
