PWP Community Partnership Spotlight: New Kingdom Trailriders
People with Purpose has had a long relationship with New Kingdom Trailriders but made their volunteer partnership official in April of this year with the crew remaining consistent volunteers for the organization.
PWP participants assist barn staff at New Kingdom Trailriders by sprucing things up and helping take care of the herd. The organization has 14 horses, and they help make sure they have water in their stalls and the barn is clean and organized. They also help in the arena for riders by making sure things are cleaned up and helmets are dust free and ready for riders.
New Kingdom Trailriders is a therapeutic horseback riding program located in Sherrard, IL but serving both Iowa and Illinois. They strive to become the leading standard uniting people with horses through acceptance and encouragement to achieve emotional and physical wellness. They serve individuals aged four and older, experiencing physical, mental, social, or emotional challenges.
Creating connections for riders with their amazing horses, together with certified therapeutic riding instructors, their riders gain confidence and increase capabilities. Their mission is to empower individuals of all ages and abilities to reach their full potential through equine assisted activities.
“NKT is primarily volunteer driven and PWP provides much needed volunteers to assist with daily needs to fulfill our mission. With over 100 riders each week, we simply cannot do what we do without help from our amazing volunteers,” said Kelly Kreiter Penning, Executive Director at New Kingdom Trailriders.
NKT provides a unique and rewarding environment for volunteering. They are always on the lookout for volunteers interested in helping with lessons, in the barn, or on committees, and special projects. To find out more information and to sign up to volunteer visit https://www.nktriders.org/volunteer.
