Getting to Know Our New CEO, Angie Kendall: Part 1
“It is in the shelter of each other that the people live.” This Irish Proverb is something that Hand in Hand’s new CEO, Angie Kendall lives by. She reflects on this phrase often, reminding herself of her duty to provide shelter and accept shelter from others.
Angie has dedicated her career to caring for children and families. She started caring for children in high school where she worked at an after-school program. Later while at Iowa State University, she worked in the infant classroom and coordinated summer camp at ChildServe. Since moving to the Quad Cities nearly 13 years ago, Angie has held several different leadership positions in nonprofit agencies, including her recent role as the Senior Development Officer at the Genesis Health Services Foundation and Genesis Philanthropy.
At Hand in Hand, she is most looking forward to getting to know the families and the team. “I’ve already met several and am absolutely amazed at the incredible talent we have working at Hand in Hand and am in love with the individuals we serve,” she said.
Angie wants to continue the legacy of Hand in Hand and honor the family-feel that makes it so unique and special. In her role as CEO, she plans to be innovative and responsive to our families and participants who have their own dreams, desires, and needs. She says she is grateful for the support that we have received so far on our journey and we will continue to need the support of many as we chart our course for the future.
When Angie is not working toward Hand in Hand’s future, she enjoys playing with her two children, spending time with her husband, playing on the water, and listening to or reading a good book. Stay tuned for Part 2 of Angie’s blog where we get to know her even more!
