Staff Spotlight: Jaci Hunt
What is your current role at Hand in Hand?
I am the preschool teacher at Hand In Hand.
Can you tell us a little about your background and journey to your current role?
I have worked with young children for over 23 years. I taught 13 years in a HeadStart classroom. And for 8 years I had child care in my house so I could raise my own kids. I started at Hand in Hand in the infant room in August, now I am the preschool teacher.
What do you enjoy most about your work here?
I enjoy helping children and watching them grow and learn in all areas of life. I enjoy when I see them have their light bulb moments.
Could you share a memorable experience or accomplishment from your time with us?
My most memorable experience is not a great one, but it is memorable. It was being a "rotten Jack-o-lantern" for Halloween. I was in the classroom for about 2 minutes before I was hit in the nose by accident and got 2 black eyes. But I feel that is also a great accomplishment. I feel this child has grown a lot since then.
How do you approach challenges in your role?
Honestly the only way I can approach the challenges I face is with the help of Jesus. He gets me through everything... work, life, marriage. He is my rock that I depend on.
Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests?
Bowling is a family favorite. We all enjoy bowling. I also enjoy serving at church in our children's ministry, riding my bike and playing cards.
Who or what motivates you to do your best every day?
Jesus is not only the one who helps me with my challenges. He is also the one who motivates me to do all that I do. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
